TREATING AN IMPALED CASUALTY
1. Call for emergency help.
Send a helper to make the call, if possible. Explain the situation clearly to the dispatcher, so that the right equipment will be brought.
2. Support the casualty’s body weight until the emergency services arrive and take over.
Reassure the casualty while you wait for emergency help.
CAUTION
- Do not allow the casualty to eat or drink because an anesthetic may be needed.
